It is not easy to tell who sang when in this group that may be the finest and best-known of all Polish vocal groups, but I hope I got it right - under the condition that I did not misdate the disc. Maybe one of the Polish experts out there would be so kind and let me know if I am wrong? Anyway, I presume this tango was recorded with the line-up that also toured Germany in 1935, substituting for the Comedian Harmonists that at this time were no longer allowed to appear live on German stages (although they continued to record until the final ban of the group in March 1935). It must have been a difficult task, but Chór Dana made quite an impression on the German concert goers. A few years later, the war broke out, during which Jasłowski and Bogdanowicz were killed by the German army - I wonder if anybody was fighting there who had previously applauded them? History can be both cruel and ironic ...
