The Irish Embassy, London is delighted to welcome you to this virtual Bloomsday celebration of the life and works of James Joyce with the help of a few very special guests.

Bloomsday is a commemoration and celebration of the life of Joyce, observed annually on 16th June, the day his 1922 novel Ulysses takes place in 1904. It is the date of his first outing with his wife-to-be, Nora Barnacle, and named after its protagonist Leopold Bloom.

Our host, writer Emma Dabiri leads this lively discussion on Joyce’s life and works including his magnum opus, Ulysses, while actors Adrian Dunbar, Denise Gough, Caoimhe O’Malley and Niall Buggy perform a series of readings written by or about Joyce. The event also features musical performances from tenor Eamonn Mulhall of Irish ballad The Lass of Aughrim and Ideale, by Paulo Tosti and opening remarks from Ambassador O’Neill.
