Look at my tenor guitars. Look at them!

Описание к видео Look at my tenor guitars. Look at them!

No, this four-stringed lil guitar isn't a bass—it's a tenor guitar. Tenor guitars have a small but dedicated fan base, and I though it's not my primary instrument, tenor guitars have a big part of my heart.

Tenor guitars came about in the 1920s as a cross between a banjo and a guitar. The idea was that it would help banjo players double on guitar—not too dissimilar from the 6-string guitar-tuned banjos we see today. Back then, they featured a banjo neck on a guitar-ish body.

Eventually, folkies and even some rockers adopted tenor guitars. Though they've never been nearly as popular as their six-stringed counterparts, tenor guitars boast a dedicated and enthusiastic fanbase, and I just happen to be a member.

Eastwood Guitars Astrojet Tenor Deluxe
This was my first ever tenor guitar. I picked it up at Old Town Music in Portland, OR a few years ago as a Valentine's Day gift to myself. Looking back, it was my first time seeing an electric tenor guitar (or any ‪@eastwoodguitarsofficial‬) in person. I had to have it. It reminded me so much of the guitar ‪@nekocaseofficial‬ had on the cover of issue 2 of ‪@fretboardjournal‬.

Eastwood Guitars Warren Ellis 2P
This was my second tenor guitar. I got it as part of what was probably my first ever deal with a brand. I'm not sure if the Get Offset podcast existed yet, but I'd been doing some freelance writing and wanted to get into video. I pitched Eastwood on some blog content and video tutorials showing how to play five or so songs on a tenor guitar.

Fender Alternate Reality Tenor Telecaster
Though I tried so hard to get a ‪@fender‬ Tenor Telecaster when they were first released, delays prevented me from being able to demo this when they first came out. When they finally hit stores, they were quickly flipped for extremely too much money. Thankfully, a listener sold me his for a fair rate. I still probably spent too much on this, but I love it!

Weird homemade mad cat-looking tenor guitar
Serious Prince vibes with this one! Shout out to Jayson from my Patreon for cutting the perfect pickguard for it.

1963 Gibson TG-0 tenor guitar
This is a truly beautiful guitar, and my oldest. It looks pretty pristine on camera, but the checking on this guitar is stunning. This is from the second run of Gibson tenors, based on the LG-0. I think the body even has LG-0 printed inside of it. It's a new saddle away from being playable, unfortunately.
