In this video, key elements - block diagram of the optical fiber communication system are explained.
The basic elements in block diagram of the fiber optic communication system are the light signal transmitter, the optical fiber, and the photo-detecting receiver. The additional elements such as fiber and cable splicers and connectors, regenerators, beam splitters, and optical amplifiers are employed to improve the performance of the communication system.
An optical fiber communications link consists of the following elements: an electro-optical transmitter, which converts analog or digital information into a modulated beam of light; a light-carrying fiber, which spans the transmission path; and an optoelectronic receiver, which converts detected light into an electric current.
