My International Virtual Centered Riding® Presentation

A few weeks ago, I was honored to be a presenter at the International Virtual Centered Riding® Symposium. The presentation was recorded and I have included it below. :)

Let me share my Centered Riding journey with you:

It started 35 years ago, when I read Sally Swift's first book. Such a revelation! She explained things that I had never heard about in more than a decade of riding and lessons. Her clear and gentle approach was mind-blowing to me. I tried to implement as much of it as I could in the riding lessons I took at the time. It wasn't easy to do just from the book, but it still created huge changes in the way I felt in the saddle and communicated with the horse.

When I took my 2-year apprenticeship at the FS-Reitzentrum in Germany, I was lucky enough to be able to attend the first European Centered Riding instructor clinic that was held there. It changed my life.

From then on, the Centered Riding principles became a big part not only of my teaching but of my life.
Becoming a Centered Riding clinician and being able to lead groups through these steps has been so rewarding!

When I moved to the US ten years ago, I was surprised to see that Sally Swift and Centered Riding were not as well known in the horse community here as it is in Germany. Who would have thought!

So, I am finding myself as one of only 2 active Centered Riding clinicians in California. I for sure hope this community will grow, as implementing Centered Riding principles can revolutionize any instructor's way of teaching.

Though I have added so many other tools to my tool box throughout my 30-year career as a clinician, Centered Riding is still the foundation that I find every rider needs.

When I started teaching online in 2016, I found a new way to relate to Centered Riding. It's just so wonderful that students from all over the world can learn together from their living rooms and experience the deep shifts in their own body awareness and riding. It's just so fun!
