Surrender of Japanese Sen Toku I-400-class submarines, in the Pacific Ocean off Japan at the end of World War II. A United States Navy sailor knocks out anchor chain which goes over the side as anchor is being dropped aboard a ship. Japanese submarine I-400 (boat 5231) underway at sea as seen from an approaching tender. The United States flag flies over Japanese flag. The United States and Japanese officers on the conning tower look down at the Japanese crew. The US flag and the black surrender flag on the flag staff aboard the submarine. Location: Pacific Ocean.
