Story of Kantara chapter 1:


Kantara: Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. Set nearly 1,500 years earlier, around 300 CE, it explores the origins of the divine legend that shaped the events of the first film.
The story begins in the ancient forests of Madhuvana, ruled by the Kadamba dynasty. The film follows Berme, a tribal warrior who becomes a bridge between the mortal world and the divine realm.
When the Bangra king Rajasekhara and his son Kulasekhara try to conquer Madhuvana and exploit its sacred lands, they unleash chaos and anger the guardian spirits — Guliga and Panjurli Daiva. During the invasion, Berme becomes possessed by Guliga, transforming into a divine force that defends the forest and its people.
But greed and betrayal follow. Rajasekhara and his daughter Kanakavathi, using black magic, try to trap the divine powers for their own benefit. In a climactic sequence filled with rituals, war, and divine possession, Berme — guided by the goddess Chamundi — destroys the corrupt royals, restoring balance between man and nature.
The film ends centuries later, in 1990, with young Shiva (from the first Kantara) hearing this tale from the villagers, hinting that his father’s disappearance and his destiny are deeply tied to Berme’s divine legacy.
