Focusrite Claret 4 Pre vs Zoom L12 Livetrack to selfrecord a live session
To get almost the same Livetrack features we need 2 Clarett 8 Pre + and an headphones preamp. Does the better qualy preamps of the Clarett makes any difference for a modern rock band?
Will we get a Zoom L20 or two Focusrite Clarett 8+?

Same editing on every tracks.

Snare top: SHURE SM 57
Kick in: AUDIX D6

Room: Warm Audio WA14

Spoiler: yes, better and cleaner preamps means better transient attack and lower noise. But what about modern mastering? This will decapitate every spikes anyway. I can hear more "compression" on the Zoom, but it's still not enought: I added a lot more with plugins.
So, at the end of the game: what will you choose?
