Heritage Park Railway Days Calgary Alberta Canada 🇨🇦

Railway days is a annual yearly held event at Heritage Park that takes place 2 days of the weekend every September where tourists, locals, Railfans, and riders can see a doubleheaded steam train, where, essentially the two steam engines are hooked up together, pulling the visitor train around the park, usually starting at 9:15am. After that, the lead locomotive is cut off and moved to the Roundhouse for the turntable demonstration which takes place around 11:00am where the crew members of the train will tell you a few stories about the history of the old days of the railway, and how Canada had gotten involved in the fight during World War II years 1939-1945 and how the history relates to what we are presently going through in the world today. And then at 1:00pm there are caboose rides on the freight train that hold by the 2023 steam locomotive that you see that is the lead locomotive of the doubleheader and is the star of the turntable demonstration. And also at 2:00pm, you will even get to see the locomotive filling up with water at the water tower. This is a very interesting and fun event. I highly recommend attending this event, even if you’re visiting from outside of Canada.
