He performed with greats like Clark Terry, Benny Bailey, Don Menza, Johnny Griffin, Art Farmer, Slide Hampton, Toots Thielemans, Ack van Rooyen & Bob Brookmeyer.

Characteristic are his sensitive as well as sensuous playing, diverse tone colors and the harmonic bandwidth of his compositions.

Hubert was awarded the WDR Jazz Prize for improvisation in 2008.

He recorded multiple award-winning trio albums for Jason Seizer Music's exquisite Pirouet Records label with John Riley & John Goldsby.

AllAboutJazz:
“The Book of Colours is an enchanting listening experience, especially for those of a careful listening frame of mind. Nuss may not enjoy a high profile in the United States, but he most certainly deserves one. This CD, on a dynamic and busy record label, should help that cause.”

The Irish Times:
“The gifted, much respected German pianist Hubert Nuss salutes the influence of the late Olivier Messiaen with an album suffused by the modal and harmonic thought of the great French composer.”

Jazz Inside New York:
“Drawing from what sounds like a rich classical tradition blended with a study of and affection for many of the post bop modern masters, Nuss is a musician that has learned his lessons well. Albums like this really demonstrate an artist’s individuality and that is something this inventive and sensitive keyboardist truly is!”
