Authorities have appealed for public cooperation as police probe the suspected murder-suicide of a family of five in Taman Cherating Damai.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah said investigators were working to determine the motive behind the tragedy.

The chilling case reportedly involved a 32-year-old man who allegedly killed his 55-year-old mother, 28-year-old wife, and their two daughters, aged three and four, before taking his own life inside their home.

Ashari said all five bodies had been sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for post-mortem examinations to determine the cause of death.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
