Simple Harmonic Motion (14 of 16): Kinetic & Potential Energy, Example Problems

Описание к видео Simple Harmonic Motion (14 of 16): Kinetic & Potential Energy, Example Problems

This video goes over three different example problems for energy in simple harmonic motion. We will calculate the kinetic energy, the potential energy, the total mechanical energy, the maximum velocity and the amplitude. We will also learn the key terms that you needed to describe an oscillating mass as well as the important points in its motion where the displacement, velocity, potential energy, kinetic energy and total mechanical energy are at their maximum and minimums.

As the object oscillates back and forth its potential and kinetic energy are continuously being exchanged for one another. At its greatest displacement the potential energy of the mass is at its maximum and the kinetic energy is zero. At the equilibrium position the kinetic energy is at its maximum and the potential energy is zero.
