Duckhorn Vineyards 2018 The Discussion Napa Valley Premium Wine Review

Duckhorn Vineyards was co-founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976. Their first vintage was in 1978 when 800 cases of Cab Sauvignon and 800 cases of Merlot were produced

This wine is Duckhorn's flagship wine and give homage to the early years of the winery when the Duckhorns sat around the table with their winemaker and debated making a cuvée and which grape varietals to focus on. The Discussion represents the pinnacle of the Duckhorn Vineyards portfolio and the ongoing dialogue that defines great winemaking. The first vintage of the Discussion was 2006. Renee Ary has been winemaker since 2014.

The 2018 Discussion is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. It is aged a total of 24 months in barrel 18 months in new French oak followed by 6 months in neutral barrels.
