সবুজ ঘাসে ঘেরা এক ছোট্ট বনে খরগোশ আর কাঠবিড়ালির মধ্যে গভীর বন্ধুত্ব গড়ে উঠল। খরগোশ ছিল খুব চঞ্চল, আর কাঠবিড়ালি ছিল খুবই দুষ্টু। তারা সারাদিন একসঙ্গে খেলাধুলা করত, খাওয়াদাওয়া করত, আর মজা করত। তাদের বন্ধুত্ব দেখে বনের অন্য প্রাণীরাও খুশি ছিল।

একদিন খরগোশ আর কাঠবিড়ালি ঠিক করল, তারা বনের মাঝখানে একটা বড় বাদামের গাছ আছে, সেখানে গিয়ে কিছু বাদাম কুড়াবে। খরগোশ দ্রুত দৌড়ে চলে গেল, আর কাঠবিড়ালি তার পিছনে ধীরে ধীরে চলল। গাছের কাছে এসে তারা দেখে, বড় বড় বাদাম ঝরে পড়ে আছে। খরগোশ খুশিতে লাফাতে লাফাতে বাদাম কুড়াতে লাগল, আর কাঠবিড়ালি তার পায়ের কাছে এসে একসঙ্গে কুড়ানো শুরু করল।
হঠাৎ খরগোশ দেখতে পেল, একটু দূরে ঘাসের ভেতর কিছু নড়াচড়া করছে। সে কাছে গিয়ে দেখে, একটা ছোট্ট পাখির ছানা পড়ে আছে, যার ডানাটা ভেঙে গেছে। পাখির ছানা কাঁদছে আর সাহায্য চাইছে। খরগোশ ভয়ে পিছিয়ে গেল, কারণ সে ভেবেছিল যে এই পাখির ছানা তাকে কামড়ে দিতে পারে।

কিন্তু কাঠবিড়ালি এসে বলল, "খরগোশ, আমরা তো এই পাখির ছানাটির সাহায্য করতে পারি! আমরা যদি একে এখানে ফেলে রাখি, তাহলে হয়তো কোনো বড় শিকারি প্রাণী এসে ওকে খেয়ে ফেলবে।"
খরগোশ বলল, "কিন্তু, কাঠবিড়ালি, আমরা কীভাবে ওকে সাহায্য করব? আমি তো জানি না কী করতে হবে!"

কাঠবিড়ালি মিষ্টি হেসে বলল, "ভয় পেও না, খরগোশ। আমি জানি কী করতে হবে। আমরা ওকে আমাদের কাছে নিয়ে যাই এবং একটু বিশ্রাম করার জন্য নিরাপদ জায়গা দিই। এরপর আমি মাটি খুঁড়ে ওর জন্য একটি ছোট ঘর বানিয়ে দিই।"
খরগোশ সাহস পেল এবং কাঠবিড়ালির সাহায্যে পাখির ছানাটিকে আলতো করে তুলল। তারা ছানাটিকে তাদের কাছে নিয়ে গিয়ে নিরাপদ একটি জায়গায় রাখল। কাঠবিড়ালি মাটি খুঁড়ে একটি ছোট্ট ঘর বানিয়ে দিল, আর খরগোশ ছানাটির জন্য জল নিয়ে এল। ছানাটি একটু একটু করে খেতে শুরু করল এবং তাদের মিষ্টি ব্যবহারে ধীরে ধীরে সুস্থ হয়ে উঠল।

কয়েকদিন পর ছানাটি পুরোপুরি সুস্থ হয়ে গেল। সে আনন্দে খরগোশ আর কাঠবিড়ালির চারপাশে উড়তে লাগল। সে বলল, "তোমরা না থাকলে আমি বাঁচতাম না। তোমরা আমার জীবনের বন্ধু হয়ে রইলে।"
খরগোশ আর কাঠবিড়ালি খুশি হয়ে হেসে উঠল। তারা বুঝতে পারল, একজনের সাহায্য অন্যকে বাঁচাতে পারে। তারা প্রতিজ্ঞা করল, তারা সবসময়ই একে অপরের পাশে থাকবে এবং বিপদে সাহায্য করবে।

The Friendship of the Rabbit and the Squirrel
In a small forest covered with green grass, a deep friendship blossomed between a rabbit and a squirrel. The rabbit was very lively, while the squirrel was quite mischievous. They spent their days playing, eating, and having fun together. Their friendship brought joy to the other animals in the forest.

One day, the rabbit and the squirrel decided to go to a large nut tree in the middle of the forest to gather some nuts. The rabbit quickly ran ahead, while the squirrel slowly followed behind. When they reached the tree, they saw that many large nuts had fallen to the ground. The rabbit, hopping with excitement, began collecting the nuts, and the squirrel joined in, picking up nuts beside him.

Suddenly, the rabbit noticed something moving in the grass a little distance away. Curiously, he went closer and saw a small bird chick with a broken wing. The little chick was crying and asking for help. The rabbit hesitated, feeling scared, as he thought the chick might bite him.

But the squirrel came over and said, "Rabbit, we can help this little bird! If we leave it here, a bigger predator might come and eat it."

The rabbit replied, "But, Squirrel, how can we help it? I don’t know what to do!"

The squirrel smiled sweetly and said, "Don’t be afraid, Rabbit. I know what to do. Let's take it with us and give it a safe place to rest. Then, I can dig a small burrow for it."

Encouraged, the rabbit gently picked up the little chick with the squirrel's help. They took it to a safe spot and placed it there. The squirrel dug a small burrow, and the rabbit brought some water for the chick. Slowly, the chick began to eat, and with their kind care, it started to recover.

A few days later, the chick was completely healed. It flew around the rabbit and the squirrel joyfully, saying, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have survived. You have become friends for life."

The rabbit and the squirrel laughed happily. They realized that helping someone in need could save a life. They promised each other that they would always stand by one another and help in times of trouble.
