With a population of around 250,000, Richmond is Vancouver’s fourth largest city. It also has Canada’s most concentrated immigrant population, with close to 60% of its population being born overseas. As a result, Chinese, not English, is the most common first language in this important Lower Mainland city. Majority of merchants from Vancouver's Chinatown are now settled their businesses in this city. Richmond is unofficially a new Chinatown. The business signs in Chinese are more visible than English along No 3 Road and nearby villages.
Richmond is a city in British Columbia, Canada, and the site of Vancouver International Airport. Known for its Asian influences (mix of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, and South-east Asians), it’s home to the International Buddhist Temple, an elaborate complex resembling Beijing’s Forbidden City. Asian eateries and shops cluster in the Golden Village district. During the 2010 Winter Olympics, the Richmond Olympic Oval was a venue for the long track speed skating events.
