The Yungas is a forest ecosystem that extends along the eastern slope of the Andes from Peru to Argentina. It is a transitional forest between the highlands and the eastern forests. The climate is rainy, humid, and warm to cool in the higher parts. Yungas forests are high in biodiversity and high in species endemism. The example seen here is a Cloud Forest type from northern Argentina that exists between the drier Gran Chaco to the east and the high altitude Puna region to the west.
