Navi Mumbai metro tour on first day of opening

The Navi Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Navi Mumbai, India.

It was opened to public on 17 November 2023, and currently has one operational line (Line 1) with 11 stations.

Line 1 is currently operational, while work on the other three lines is yet to begin.

The total length of the operational Line 1 is 11.1 kilometers, with 11 stations along the route.

The end-to-end journey time on Line 1 takes approximately 18 minutes.

The fare structure for the Navi Mumbai Metro depends on the distance traveled, with fares ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 40.

The frequency of trains on Line 1 is 15 minutes during peak hours and 20 minutes during non-peak hours.

The metro system uses standard-gauge tracks and has a total route length of approximately 35 kilometers, including under construction lines.

The metro system consists of four lines: Line 1 (Belapur-Pendhar), Line 2 (MIDC Taloja-Khandeshwar), Line 3 (Pendhar-MIDC Taloja), and Line 4 (Navi Mumbai International Airport-Panvel).

The Navi Mumbai Metro provides various amenities such as parking spaces, ramps for disabled passengers, footpaths, spaces for auto rickshaws, provision of diesel generators for uninterrupted power, passenger announcement systems, CCTV cameras, and other facilities.The project faced several delays due to challenges related to contractors and technical obstacles, but it was finally completed in April 2023 and opened for the public in November 2023


The Navi Mumbai Metro is operated by the Navi Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NNMRC).

The metro also offers smart card facilities for frequent commuters, which can be recharged online or at station counters.

The Navi Mumbai Metro is integrated with other public transport systems such as buses and suburban railways, providing easy connectivity to various parts of the city. The metro system has been designed to provide relief to the congested roads of Navi Mumbai and reduce travel time for daily commuters.The project cost for Phase I of the Navi Mumbai Metro was estimated to be around INR 3,000 crore, and it is expected to increase to INR 10,000 crore for Phases II and III.
