STORYLINE:
Longtime Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow expressed her support for President Joe Biden on Wednesday, as first lady Jill Biden visited a children’s camp in battleground Michigan.

Asked by reporters about the president’s disappointing debate performance last week, Stabenow said: “We shouldn't evaluate anything based on one debate. This is not about 90 minutes. It's about four years.”

Jill Biden visited YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin in Middleville, Michigan, about 30 miles south of Grand Rapids on the west side of the state. The president’s wife was there to highlight programs the White House has implemented to help ensure children do not go hungry when school is out.

She did not take questions from the media.

Michigan is a key state to winning the White House, and Jill Biden and others close to the president have visited often in recent months.

“People are going to make their own choices independently. Having said that, I think we're going to have a strong Democratic showing this fall,” Stabenow said.
