Dr Marcis Leja - GISTAR study

Dr Marcis Leja, University of Latvia, Latvia, works with IARC researchers with the goal of improving intervention techniques to reduce gastric cancer burden and mortality. While this cancer is associated with a relatively high death rate, there is no test suitable for large-scale screening programmes.

IARC in 140 Characters is a tribute to the people who dedicate their lives to reducing and eliminating the global burden of cancer through research, international projects, and innovative new approaches to cancer control and prevention.
