The song is a celebration of the joyous atmosphere of Lord Rama's coronation as King of Ayodhya and the restoration of dharma (righteousness) in the world.

Lord Rama and Goddess Sita are seated on the throne, Bharata and Lakshmana are standing closeby fanning the couple. The villagers are singing auspicious songs while mridangams are being played. Lord Rama vanquished Ravana as well as gave back the throne of Lanka to King Vibhishana. Mother Kausalya's wish had finally come true. Swati Thirunal was deeply devoted to Lord Padmanabha, the presiding deity of Travancore. He says that Lord Padmanabha brought happiness to the three worlds and maintained cosmic harmony.
