Defence Minister Bill Blair speaks about Canada's updated defence policy as he takes part in an event hosted by the Atlantic Council at the Canadian embassy in Washington, D.C.

Canada’s ambassador to the U.S. Kristen Hillman provides introductory remarks. In his address, minister Blair also touches on Canada-U.S. bilateral relations, Canada’s role in transatlantic security and support for Ukraine.

Following his remarks, the minister sits down for a conversation with Ian Brzezinski, senior fellow with the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. Blair faces questions from the audience on the security issues caused by climate change and on Canada’s approach to the threats posed by China and Russia. The defence minister is also pressed on Canada’s defence spending commitments. Blair is meeting with American cybersecurity and defence industry leaders during his two-day visit.
