Exceptions are used to help your program stay running as much as possible. If you have an exception and your program were to close and shutdown, then you will loose all of the data. This could be very problematic in large systems where data integrity is very key. For example, you are using Microsoft Word and you try to insert a table and the code required to add a table ends up causing an exception then the program will just close and you could lose any data that you haven't saved. That isn't the best experience for the user, so you want to avoid this.

Using try...catch is a very important milestone to learn and understand in C# as they are very common when using databases, even something as simple as connecting to a database could return an exception, so you want to use them in all the cases where something you might not expect could potentially happen. The problem with exceptions is, without the experience sometimes you don't know if you should use a try catch or not, but that will come over time.
