The heart shape that people draw does not represent the real shape of the heart inside the human body, but it might be the closest thing to it. What else do the kids know about the heart, how it serves the body and how one should protect it?

The heart pumps when one is happy, feared, when one is doing exercise and it pumps to give the body a life to live. The main task of the heart is to pump blood around the body through the veins and the arteries; the veins carry the blood to the heart and the arteries carry the blood away and this blood carries oxygen which means that the heart is the main source of the oxygen that we live with and without it, we will die.

The heart pumps by contracting and relaxing and it is made up of four chambers, two on each side. The chambers on the top are known as the right and the left atrium and those on the bottom are known as the left and right ventricle. These chambers have their tasks as well; the oxygen in the heart carries rich blood that flows from the lungs and into the left atrium and then it is pumped out to the rest of the body for the left ventricle which needs an oxygen refill called the deoxygenated blood that flows into the right atrium and back out the right ventricle to the lungs; in other words, we could say that it is like a big circle that happens within the body.

What the kids might find interesting is the fact that all what we have mentioned from tasks done by the heart are done in just one beat and this might not be expected or even believed. The average heart beat of the human being is 72 beats per minute and according to some calculations done, it means that when the person reaches 66 years old, his/her heart would have beaten 2.5 billion times.

Your heart is your life and there are some important habits which the kids should get used to from their early life in order not to find it difficult when they are old, these habits should help them take care of their hearts and keep them working in a healthy manner. In order to keep the heart healthy, one should stay away from smoking and from the tobacco products, one should do exercises and manage a healthy body weight, follow a healthy diet plan that is about good amounts of fruits and vegetables and finally don't eat too much sugar and fats.

The heart is a hard worker and it never rests and we should all take care of it and give it the support it will be in need for. The kids grow up knowing that their heart is the reason behind their survival, but not all of them know why or what it actually does to keep them surviving - let your kids see this video in order to know more about the tasks of the heart.

Science is one of the different fields that LearningMole serves educational videos and resources for in addition to maths, crafts and cooking. There are lots of things that come under the science category, we have those facts about solar system for kids (   • Facts about the Solar System | Lots o...  ), we teach the kids some facts about Tsunamis (   • Tsunami Facts for Kids - What causes ...  ), water cycle (   • Water Cycle Facts for Kids - Water Cy...  ) and lots of other things which all come under the same name which is "science".

You could also check those links that could let the kids know more about finance (   • Financial Literacy for Kids - How to ...  ) and the things and facts which they could know more about and learn when they are still at this early age (   • How to Make Money Tips - Financial Ed...  ).

It is important to build a conversation with your kids when you are teaching them something because it will help you to know how the kids reached a specific answer or what the other ways that they know about are. You should also let them ask you and avoid being the one who is always responsible for asking.

In the case of the educational videos that tell a specific story to educate the kids about a specific thing, you could ask the kid a question or two at the end of the video to know whether they got the whole story and understood what they have been watching or else need more details about the subject.

If you have any questions or suggestions, send them over right away :-)!
