HAIL, WIND, AND FLOODING: Storms are firing along a nearly stationary boundary that will linger all weekend across Minnesota and South Dakota. Minneapolis sits near the prime zone for repeated rounds of storms. While there’s a level 2 risk of severe weather with hail and strong wind gusts possible, the bigger concern is the torrential rain, thanks to abundant moisture in the atmosphere.

TEXAS TROPICAL UPDATE: A disturbance along the Texas–Mexico border is struggling to organize as it hugs the coast. Formation chances are low, but even without developing into a tropical system, it could still dump heavy rain in southern Texas and northeastern Mexico over the next 24 hours.

HURRICANE ERIN: The first hurricane of the 2025 season. Erin now has a well-defined eyewall and sustained winds of 75 mph, with the potential for rapid strengthening over the next couple of days. The storm will grow in size and power as it moves west-northwest into the weekend, with dangerous surf and rip currents likely for much of the western Atlantic next week. Impacts to the Bahamas, U.S. East Coast, and Bermuda remain uncertain, but the threat of hazardous conditions offshore is high.
