Maya Bay is a jewel of Thailand and has been a number one travel spot in the world since the release of the movie "Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Since then in 2018 itself around 5000 tourists per day visited Maya bay, which highly impacted marine eco-system. So as a result since June 2018 officials closed Maya Bay for 4 years and started a program aimed at reviving corals.
Finally legendary Maya Bay reopened in January 2022 with a new set of rules and a new entrance to the beach.
