Описание к видео Admin and Ops update 4.6.20

Hi all,

Even though our weekends may look very similar to weekdays right now, I hope you were able to find some time for something joyful. I know I am feeling some joy about getting to see your faces this Wednesday at our first Virtual Town Hall (see instructions below). My hope for you all this week is that we are all finding our rhythm and understanding that the change in routine is not just about the way we are providing services but the environment in which we are doing it in. Recently, I found I was getting bad tension headaches and feeling way more crickety then I should. This was most definitely from working on my bed and not setting up a proper workstation. Have you created a makeshift workstation at home, did you create a standing desk out of a box and a shelf, is your pantry now your office? I want to see the pics!

Self Care
There are four areas to focus your attention when setting up an ergonomic home office:
Head and Neck: To keep your neck, shoulders, and back free from injury, your head should be vertical to your neck. This position creates the least amount of strain. Unfortunately, if you're working with a laptop computer on a kitchen table, that screen is going to be way too low. For short periods of time, it's probably harmless. For a long-term setup, though, consider mounting your laptop on a laptop riser and using an external keyboard and mouse. If you have a monitor, use books (finally found a use for my high school algebra textbook I never returned) to raise it to a comfortable eye level, one that keeps your head and neck in that neutral, stacked position.
Hand and Wrist Position: Your hands and wrists should be in a neutral posture, similar to your head. Extend your arm and hand forward to lay them flat on the table. The hand, wrist, and forearm are practically flush, which is what you want. What you don't want is a hinge at the wrist.
Seated Posture and Back Support: Find a posture that allows you to see the screen while sitting back in a way that provides lower back support. You might find it's similar to sitting in the driver's seat of a car, slightly leaning back. If you don't have a fancy office chair that rocks back, try putting a cushion, pillow, or towel behind your lower back.
Behavior: The last area of focus has to do with behavior. I am saying this is allowed and expected. TAKE FREQUENT BUT SHORT BREAKS. The ideal routine is about every 20 minutes, take a short break where you stand up, stretch out a little bit maybe for a minute or two. Or even better, walk and make a cup of tea or coffee. Movement improves circulation, comfort, and performance. It also decreases the risk of injuries.

Staff Town Hall
We are looking forward to our first Virtual Staff Town Hall with Matt this Wednesday at 3:00 PM. You will be paid for your time of course. Please check your calendars for the invite. Below is a video on how we will be conducting the town hall and attached are instructions on how to access zoom from your phone or computer. We will be using the "raise hand" and chat feature to make sure we can get to everyone's questions.
