Resetting the Tello (press the power button for at least 5 seconds) resets the firmware version shown in the app, you can then run the update again. In my case this worked, hope it helps if you’re having the same issue.

When used without any updates my Tello was rock solid for stability. I updated the firmware to the latest, 01.04.78.01, now my Tello rises and falls and wobbles around erratically. This video shows some examples of the Tello moving on its own without any control input from me. It was a bit too difficult to get video of the Tello on my phone while using the iPad to control it, so I wasn’t able to demonstrate that it now climbs when moving forward even though I am not touching the left stick on screen.
