The defender played for the Ibrox side for 12 years between 1960 to 1972 after making the debut as a 20-year-old he helped the club win two league titles, in 1963 and 1964, four Scottish Cups and three league cups and was later inducted in to the hall of Fame. In his last game for Rangers, he broke his leg in a win over sporting Lisbon in the cup winners' Cup second round and missed out on the club winning the trophy in Barcelona at the end of the season. Winning 28 international Cups, he was part of the Scotland team that beat England to win the British home Championships in 1967. McKinnon's brother was also a footballer who spent 14 years at Patrick Thistle. Rangers paid tribute when the news of his death was revealed on Sunday.
