How to Test a GE Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Defrost Sensor) Like a Pro!

Step-by-Step instructions on how to test the WR55X10025 Thermistor Temperature Sensor on a GE refrigerator. The thermistors measure the air temperature inside the refrigerator and freezer compartments. The temperature from the sensor is communicated to the main control board where it will then use that information to properly control the cooling cycles. If the thermistor fails, it can cause the refrigerator or freezer sections to not cool properly. And did you know that on some models, this sensor is also used as a defrost sensor? So if you've been having trouble with excess frost or ice buildup in your freezer, replacing the temperature sensor could help with that too.

If you discover that you have a bad Thermistor and need to replace it, you can either replace the thermistor by itself and splice the wiring or in some cases you may have the option to replace the thermistor as part of an assembly.
