Early Childhood Education in Ghana

Early grade teaching is not widely considered a prestigious teaching role and therefore does not attract the numbers needed to ensure every child receives quality education in their formative years. This film was produced as part of a campaign to encourage prospective student teachers to specialise in early grade teaching. The film’s main subject is Philippa Darko, 1st runner up for the Ghana teacher 2019 and Jessy Thompson, a KG teacher in the Shama District of the Western region. Through this film, teachers are presented as role models, illustrating how they are shaping futures in the classroom and highlighting the significance of EG teaching.
