After recording one of Ottumwa's 2750s, I headed down to Oskaloosa to catch one of their newer 2910s. After the pandemic, Mahaska County indirectly replaced 3 of the WPS-3000s in Oskaloosa with 2910s. An undercover police officer stopped by and asked why the cameras are there. I knew he was more than likely just curious as I was parked legally and not on private property, and there are no laws against videoing sirens. It turns out he was there to listen to the siren as well. After the test, I told the officer that I was concerned about the voice messages being all quiet and garbled, and he told be that this has been an issue for the past 6 months. The officer told me that an internal system replacement is what caused the voice messages to be not that great. The officer said he would let the county know that this problem is still persisting.
