It was the summer, I was sitting outside, and I felt like I wasn’t doing my avoida b’simcha, living b’simcha. I can’t stay like this! So, I got up and started running, mamish running around the backyard, saying the words “Ivdu Es Hashem B’simcha” over and over again to jolt myself out of this shvereh moichin (as is m’vuar in Reb Nachman, צריך להכריח את עצמו בכוח גדול להיות בשמחה תמיד, ולשמח את עצמו בכל אשר יוכל, ואפילו במילי דשטותא – ליקוטי מוהר”ן תנינא כד) After a while, between the chanting and panting to the beat of my step, these words started turning into a song until eventually it brought me back into a matziv of simcha.
