Analysts note that the ceasefire may be a temporary measure ahead of negotiations, with Russia likely stockpiling missiles and drones while avoiding energy targets for the week.

Negotiations continue, with progress reportedly made since Geneva, though the territorial issue — particularly regarding Donetsk — remains unresolved. The Kremlin emphasizes that many other issues are still pending and disputes U.S. claims about agreed security guarantees. Overall, while the ceasefire signals potential movement toward ending the war, both sides acknowledge much work remains.

In Lviv, authorities introduced a state of emergency due to potential shelling during the cold spell, and residents were warned that blackouts could cut off all signals, including 4G and 5G.

The war continues across all directions, with high Russian activity but mostly unchanged front lines over the past 24 hours: Sumy & Kharkiv: Assaults continue on villages such as Yunakivka, Loknia, Pavlivka, and Zelene, but Ukrainian defenses hold. Vovchansk & Velykyi Burluk: High activity with repeated assaults, but no significant gains. Kupiansk & Borova: Limited progress; attacks repelled. Lyman & Sloviansk: Russians attempting to advance, but positions are held by Ukraine. Kramatorsk & Kostyantynivka: Assaults ongoing; no changes. Dobropillia & Pokrovsk: Russians attacking multiple settlements, including Torske, Sofiivka, Rodynske, and Hryshyne. Deep rear areas targeted by “Molniya” drones destroying supply vehicles up to 92 km behind the front. Novopavlivka & Pokrovske: Continued assaults in Filiya and Yehorivka; front lines unchanged. Huliaipole & Zaporizhzhia: High activity and shelling, assaults on frontline villages, and Russian reconnaissance efforts advancing. Kherson: Attacks near Antonivskyi Bridge continue, but no changes reported.
