Golden Gate FC (San Francisco, logo is a modified NASL logo - San Francisco Gates)
Los Angeles Aztecs (old NASL)
Miami Toros (old NASL)
Minnesota Strikers (old NASL)
Montreal Manic (old NASL)
New England Minutemen (old NASL)
New York Cosmos (old NASL)
Philadelphia Atoms (old NASL)
Portland United FC
San Diego Sockers (old NASL)

Tampa Bay Mutiny (old MLS since the Rowdies are an active club)

The bottom three clubs at the end of the 34-game regular season are relegated to the NACD. The top eight clubs will participate in the Champions Cup playoffs.
