A video tribute to my childhood racing hero. When i was about 10 years old, i found a game called Nascar 2000, and by luck, i found a sports channel in TV, which also aired Nascar races, and the name i kept hearing the most, was Dale Earnhardt Sr., and from then, whenever i heard the word Nascar, i always thought of Earnhardt, and Earhnardt was always Nascar to me.

Unfortunately i was not able to watch Nascar too often, but i was playing the NR games from 2000 to 2004 religiously, and my love for the sport came from the games, and Earnhardt became a name i was quickly looking for every time. To my confusion at 2002, i no longer saw Earnhardt Sr. in the games, but also had no way of finding out why that happened, thought he decided to retire after driving for so many years.

Then at around 2004 when my family finally had internet in our house for the first time, i was searching the internet to find out where Dale Sr. is at the time, and to my shock and disbelief, found out that he was deceased for 3 years at that point.

I could not believe it, didn't want to, my brain somehow blocked it out, because i can't remember anything else what i was feeling or thinking at the time, only that i have just read that my all time favorite driver, and the one who made me interested in the sport, was no longer with us.

For the next 14 (!) years, i did not touch anything Nascar related. You could say i was living in ignorance, but i did not know anything else what to do, as i was young, and had nobody to talk with about how i was feeling, when i lost my childhood Hero.

Finally as of the start of 2020, i finally gave watching Nascar a chance, and watched every single race of the 2020, even thou the only way to do it in my country is through re-runs on YouTube, because no live coverage in my country, and i am still LOVING the sport with everything it has.

At the same time, whenever i watch a new race, my feelings of something missing are still there. Over the last year i also watched many interviews with Dale Earnhardt Sr., from his early career, up until his very last one, which took place moments before his very last race, and also many new interviews of his colleagues, and friends who share stories about Dale, and also their feelings after all those years on what happened on that tragic day, highlight being video titled Dale Jr. Download: Dale Earnhardt - Race Whisperer, featuring Michael Waltrip, talking about that tragic day, and a longer documentary titled The Day - Remembering Dale Earnhardt .

My feelings are always the same - after nearly 15 years since i found out, and now 20 years after he passed away, i still can't get over the fact Dale Earnhardt, The Intimidator, is no longer here. Whenever i see old interviews where he is featured, commercials, or how he gets out of the car from the worst crashes (Talladega 1996), i just cry, so much, because i miss him, and there will never, ever be another Dale Earnhardt, and i feel lost, because i don't know how to deal with these feelings that i still have so many years later.

One of the only things that make me feel better, is watching his victories, like the most incredible one in 2000 at Talladega, which is still the most incredible showcase of racing talent i have ever seen, and then Daytona 2001, when he helped his close friend and son finish 1.st and 2.nd on that tragic day, and where in one of his old interviews with Ken Squier, when asked why did Dale always race, when he knew the risks involved, he said "I'd never want to do anything else. I'd never ever want to do anything else". It comforts me to know at least, that he passed away doing, what he loved doing the most in life.
