The solid state is the study of the arrangement of atoms, ions, or molecules in solids and their properties. Understanding the different types of crystal structures is crucial in this area, and SCC, BCC, and FCC are the three most common types.

Simple Cubic Crystal (SCC):

The SCC structure is the simplest and most basic type of crystal lattice.
In this structure, the constituent particles (atoms, ions, or molecules) occupy the corners of the cube, with no other particles in the center or at the face.
The coordination number of each particle in SCC is 6, meaning each particle is in contact with six neighboring particles.
SCC structures are not very common in nature due to their low packing efficiency.
Body-Centered Cubic Crystal (BCC):

In the BCC structure, the constituent particles occupy the corners of the cube, similar to SCC.
Additionally, there is one particle present at the center of the cube.
Therefore, each particle in a BCC structure is in contact with eight neighboring particles.
BCC structures have a higher packing efficiency compared to SCC, making them more common in certain metals, such as iron.
Face-Centered Cubic Crystal (FCC):

The FCC structure is the most closely packed and efficient arrangement of particles.
In this structure, the constituent particles occupy the corners as well as the centers of each face of the cube.
Each particle in an FCC structure is in contact with twelve neighboring particles.
FCC structures are prevalent in many metals, including aluminum and copper.
