Having earned a Ph.D. in medical parasitology from a Nigerian university and completed post-doctoral fellowships in London and New York, this senior scholar researches the epidemiology of malaria and other diseases endemic to her native Cameroon, such as HIV/AIDS and malaria-related anemia and malnutrition. She has worked at universities in Cameroon for over two decades, ultimately serving as a professor of medical parasitology and vice-dean of admission and records at the University of Bamenda. Praised for her student mentorship, the scholar has supervised nearly 75 graduate students and co-taught graduate and undergraduate courses on topics such as protozoology, epidemiology, and vector biology. The scholar has presented her research in Africa and Europe, contributed to more than 60 journal articles, and shared her knowledge within her community by offering free diagnoses and giving lessons on disease prevention and management. IIE-SRF support awarded in 2020 has enabled her to continue her work at Drexel University, where she is teaching a master's course and researching the gametocytes of malaria parasites.
