There are two main types of squash:
• Sedentary zucchini,
• Running squash, which require specific pruning.
Why prune? Because male flowers, which do not produce fruit, grow on the main stem. To get female flowers, the ones that develop into squash, you must stimulate the side shoots. By cutting the tip of the main stem, you encourage these side branches and speed up the fruiting process.

Once your squash are pollinated, avoid letting everything grow. Cut back two leaves past each fruit to help the plant concentrate its energy on fruit development. This ensures earlier, better-formed, and tastier squash.
