What is De quervains tenosynovitis?
It is a painful condition when the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist are affected. If you have de Quervain tenosynovitis, you may feel discomfort in turning your wrist, grabbing something, or making a fist. It is also known as Intersection Syndrome.
Causes of De quervains tenosynovitis?
The two tendons Abductor Pollicis Longus and Extensor Pollicis Brevis which are located on the thumb side of the wrist are affected by De Quervain tenosynovitis.
• Stressful condition
• Pregnancy
• Delivery
• Unaccustomed activities
• Uric acid
Diagnosis?
• Finkelstein Test
Treatment?
• Movement of hand
• Hot water fomentation
• Rest
• Splint is not recommended
• Mobilize your thumb
• Anti-inflammatory drugs
• Injection right into the tendons
