This video shows how to test for lead-based paint in your home. This is a quick and easy test to find out if you have lead paint in your home. Knowing if your home has lead paint helps you protect your children from lead poisoning.

If you live in a Pre 1978 home and you plan to do any renovating, repairing, or painting, you could be disturbing lead-based paint, and this can pose a serious health hazard for both children and adults.

Lead can be present in your home under layers of new paint. If the paint in your home is in good shape, lead is not usually an issue.

Older homes with deteriorating paint, that is if the paint in peeling, chipping, chalking, cracking, damaged, or damp it can pose a hazard needs immediate attention.

It may also be a hazard when found on surfaces that children can come in contact with, such as :
o Windows and window sills;
o Doors and door frames; and
o Stairs, railings, banisters, and porches.
o Lead is also found in the soil and some plates and imported toys.

Be sure to keep all paint in excellent shape and clean up dust frequently
