Shaun, a junior at Shady Side Academy and member of the SSA Speech and Debate Team, pretends to be Simon Cowell addressing a group of reality TV stars during a school assembly on Nov. 2. Shaun was re-enacting the "after-dinner speech" he gave at the 2012 International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition (IISPSC) in Calgary. In an after-dinner speech, the speaker must address an imaginary audience of his/her own choosing and deliver new and relevant insights in a way that is designed to inform and entertain.
