Circle of Confusion - What it is and How to Manage it?

Seeing a circle of confusion is a photography phenomenon. With our natural vision, we never see a circle of confusion. This happens because light passes through a lens from different distances as it reflects off a subject. It’s the same if you are photographing circles or triangles of any shape at all. It’s not about the subject, but the circle of confusion is about how the light reaches the flat plane of your camera’s sensor or film.

The depth of field is only considering the amount of a photo that’s in acceptably sharp focus. What is actually in focus is only the point the lens is focused on. The rest of the photo that appears to be sharp is what we call the circle of confusion.
