One of the lesser known lake monsters of the UK, The Lake Bala Beast, also known as Teggie - or the monster of Llyn Tegid certainly deserves a bit more publicity!

In 1976, lake warden Daffyd Bowen described having seen a strange shape lurking in the depths of Lake Bala (Llyn Tegid). It was grey, about eight feet long and looked like a crocodile with a small hump on its back. Its front and back ends were about 4 inches above the water.
This report is the most noteable recorded instance of a sighting. But reports had been passed on to the authorities since the early 1920s
In 1979 one witness claimed to see the surface bubbing and foaming and a large hump backed creature broke the surface.

Could this be the legendary Afanc? Or some other undiscovered species in the lake?
