The National Disaster Warning Center has planned a tsunami evacuation drill and the alert system testing for the 6 Andaman coastal provinces on13 September.

In cooperation with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and the provincial administration, the National Disaster Warning Center has scheduled to test the tsunami warning system deployed in 123 towers located across the 6 provinces including Ranong, Phang-nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun on 13 September.

According to Phang-nga Governor Woraphot Rathsima, people living in the 3 risky districts where the 18 warning towers with alert system linked to the national center are located have been asked to get ready for the drill. The areas include Takua Pa, Thai Muang and Khura Buri Districts.

The testing of evacuation plan and alert systems will educate the local residents and all concerned authorities as well as raise awareness to proactively minimize loss.
