In less then one minute your Samsung Galaxy S4 should be rooted. Towel Root Method-- by XDA developer Geohot

1) download "root checker" from the google app store and verify your S4 is not rooted.
2) go to www.towelroot.com and click on the lambda (the red looking A character) and install the APK file.
3) Open up "root checker" and confirm your S4 is now rooted.
4) download "supersu" from the google play store. This basically stops unauthorized apps from using the new found root access, If an app you do not recognize is trying to access root, just deny it.
