By: Ashlei King\nNews 4 San Antonio\nSAN ANTONIO - More than two dozen men and women were sworn into the San Antonio Police Department on Friday morning.\nThe cadet class started with 35 and ended with only 26. Of the 26 people, four were women.\n"I was supposed to make it last year. I barely missed the cut, Rvnit Mutti told News 4 back in March before she started the academy.\nThis is my third time, Officer Marcia Villa said in March.\nMutti, Villa, Allix Johnson and Whitney Campbell were the only four women in the SAPD 2015-A cadet class.\n"It's a difficult process, but it's worth it," Campbell said.\nThe process was 33 weeks of academics, physical training, firearms and driving, but before the women cadets got started on that, they had to endure a different type of challenge the dreaded chop. All of the cadets hair had to remain short during the academy for hygiene purposes.\nNews 4 followed Mutti and Villa as they went to the salon to cut their hair.\n"It cannot touch the collar or ears, Villa told her hairstylist.\nWhile that was an emotional challenge, it was the first of many they would face.\n"I think that sometimes there's a little more expected for us because we're expected to keep up with the guys, especially when it comes to physical fitness," Johnson said.\nWomen make up about nine-percent of the San Antonio Police Department. The four women in cadet class 2015-A left their mark by earning top achievements. Five weeks into the academy, the cadets voted for class officers. They elected Johnson as vice-president, Mutti as secretary and Villa as treasurer. Johnson also ranked third in academics and driving, while Villa placed fifth in physical training.\n"We went into it with that mentality. We weren't going to let each other quit, Officer Johnson said after graduation. There's only four of us. There's a lot more guys to have to get together and there's four. We can do it."\n"It feels amazing. We're finally here. You never thought that you'd make it here," Officer Campbell said after walking the stage.\nNow that they are officially sworn in police officers, they are also excited to get something else back.\nThat's the best part, getting to grow my hair back out, Johnson said.\n"I'm very excited about that. I'm not going to lie. This is not a haircut I'm going to keep. Definitely going to be growing it out as much as possible. Not getting a haircut for a very long time, Officer Mutti said.\nThe new officers will begin patrolling San Antonio streets this weekend.\nClick here to see the first story News 4 aired featuring the women in the police academy.
