Shakti Peeth Chamunda Devi Mandir in Himachal is about 19kms away from Palampur town. This is a temple dedicated to Shri Chamunda Devi. Its also known as Shri Chamunda Devi Temple or Chamunda Nandikeshwar Dham. Chamunda Devi is a fierce form of goddess Durga. Maa Durga created a goddess to slay the Chanda and Munda demons. After killing these two demons, the goddess was called Chamunda Devi.

There are many stories related to this temple.

According to the legends, this temple was built in the 16th century when Lord Chamunda appeared in a priest's dream. and told the place where the idol of the goddess was. After this the priest told this to the king and then the king sent his soldiers and recovered the idol. and established the place where this temple is now built.
There is also a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on the lower side of the Chamunda Devi temple, which is called Nandikeshwar Mahadev's temple. Chamunda Devi Temple is believed to be the abode of Shiva and Shakti. That's why it's called Chamunda Nandikeshwar Dham.

On the lower side of the temple, grand idols of many gods and goddesses have been made. Apart from this, there is a pond in the temple in which beautiful statues of Lord Shiva and Goddess Saraswati have been made.

Chamunda Nandeshwar Dham looks very grand and attractive. Throughout the year you will see a gathering of devotees here. And especially during Navratras there is a lot of crowd here.
So if you ever come to Palampur or Dharamshala, then definitely visit this holy dham.
