Actors know very well they need good headshots to work with agents, managers, and to land castings. Good actor headshots are arguably the most important marketing tool that an actor must have. And they must be professionally made too – most agents, managers, and casting director, etc. will tell you that. So, beware of any advice otherwise. In Los Angeles, getting good headshots can be a daunting task. By at least one estimation (Expertise.com) there are more than 1,200 providers of portrait or headshot types of services in the Los Angeles area. Navigating through that to find a good photographer to work with is challenging. Then there are the cost considerations. Photographers can be expensive and priced outside of many actor’s budgets. But, as mentioned, you must have good headshots and so the cost is required. And how many looks can you get in a session is important, and so on. But there are options available to get it all.
