Tyler Z.: Home Appliance Technician: Unfortunately you really can't test to see what elese might have failed without replacing the actuator first.
Tyler Z.: Home Appliance Technician: Hopefully it's your only problem, but you just never know when you have a flood.
Tyler Z.: Home Appliance Technician: So lets talk about the actuator a bit.
Tyler Z.: Home Appliance Technician: This problem you're experiencing is where the actuator fails and the lid will lock and unlock but since the actuator won't go to the correct position it stops the washer from advancing so it will not start to fill with water and it keeps waiting and sensing.
Tyler Z.: Home Appliance Technician: After failing to get into the correct position, the lid lock light will flash to signal a problem.
Tyler Z.: Home Appliance Technician: The actuator motor is located below the tub.
Tyler Z.: Home Appliance Technician: To access this part, you need to unplug the washer, tip the washer backwards, and remove the 2 screws going into the plastic cover near the back left corner.
Tyler Z.: Home Appliance Technician: That will allow you to access the motor and the actuator to the right of the motor.
Tyler Z.: Home Appliance Technician: Remove the screws going into the actuator and replace the actuator.
