Is It Worth It? Episode 2-DonnyFL 1/2x20 Adapter (& Tatsu) for the Air Venturi Avenger .177 AirGun

In this video we test the DonnyFL 1/2x20 Adapter for the Air Venturi Avenger so that you can decide whether or not it’s worth adding to your air rifle.

The Avenger used in this video is a .177 caliber rifle firing 10.3 grain JSB pellets at about 884 ft./s.

The moderator we fitted is a DonnyFL Tatsu and it was connected using the DonnyFL adapter.

The adapter has several functions. The first is to convert the internal (female) threading on the barrel shroud to a male 1/2x20 thread which will allow you to attach most moderators, certainly anything in the Donny FL line. The second function is that it moves those threads forward so that you can remove the Avenger’s fill probe cover to refill the gun with air without having to take off the moderator. The third function is to make sure that the barrel stays centered within the shroud so that you don’t experience pellet clipping while using a moderator. This part of the adapter is drilled out so that you can also take advantage of the air volume in the stock shroud.

In this video you will hear the air rifle fired both with the adapter and a moderator installed and without the adapter. You will also see sound level figures for those shots. Sound readings were measured with the NIOSH Sound Level Meter app on an iPhone 11 Pro that was connected to an external microphone. Maximum levels from the test shots are reported via screen shots from the app.
